Is the personal representative entitled to be paid?

Yes, the personal representative is entitled to be paid for their services. Their fees need to be reasonable. They need to notify the beneficiaries of what their fees are, and their fees may be subject to court approval. That's why it's critical for personal representatives to keep track of their time and their expenses when serving in case there are questions raised about their compensation.
