If my spouse and I own everything jointly might a durable power of attorney still be useful?

Yes, there are some assets that are not covered by joint ownership such as your individual retirement accounts. Also, there maybe a situation where your spouse is unable to act for you. A durable power of attorney would be important in that situation as well so you can have an alternate person. Also, there are personal items such as your bills and accounts that may not be jointly titled that a durable power of attorney could handle as well.
